The Sleek and Sophisticated Lombard Street Project
Our clients’ new Philadelphia house needed help to get the kitchen move-in ready for their family of four. With one small child and a new baby, they knew they’d need help taking on this important and time-sensitive renovation.
The Survey and Design Stages
This project began with an initial design survey on-site, where we met the new homeowners to walk through the property, discussing the scope of the work, and taking measurements, photographs and a 3D Matterport video that would help our team formulate a customized plan.
We then took that information and created a schematic design and inspiration boards, working through ideas and concepts that would eventually give this family everything they needed for their space to feel like home. After we presented our ideas to the clients, we detailed out a schematic construction cost estimate based on their set budget.
From mood boards to detailed renderings, the design development process is a favorite for our team and for homeowners. For this project, we had a lot of fun creating a transitional design with pops of color that reflected this young family’s personality. Once our clients were happy with the design, we built out the construction documents and final selections and specifications before preparing the final budget.
Getting Ready to Build
One of the best things about choosing to work with a design-build firm is that we handle all of the necessary permit applications (including Zoning, Building, and Historical approval) so you don’t have to. Once we secured everything we needed for the Lombard Street project, construction could finally begin! A dedicated project manager, crew and designer all worked together to make sure this home was everything our clients wanted, right down to the last details.
The Transformational Results
The kitchen’s once dark, builder-grade cabinets have been replaced with beautiful custom made blue and white ones that help to lighten and open the space, making it more inviting for family enjoyment.
An arabesque tile backsplash, beautifully contrasted with the dark grout, adds another layer of dimension and personality to the space.
White quartz countertops sport a waterfall edge for a sleek, modern look, complemented by the striking custom blue color used for the custom built cabinets as well as the matching pendant light.
Finally, thoughtfully placed open shelves in a gorgeous wood that perfectly match the flooring create display moments throughout this stunning kitchen.
Custom elements created by our team are sure to bring a new level of character and charm to the heart of this Lombard St. home.
