What I appreciate most working with New Market Design Build is the trust and partnership we have developed over the years. I like that they listen to us, provide us options and approach the work as if it is their own house. Renovations are inherently stressful; the peace of mind working with New Market Design Build provides allows Andy and I to keep our sanity.

We have appreciated working with NMDB from the beginning design work to the completion of our project. Working with Lauren was different from other designers in the past. Lauren truly listened to what we wanted to accomplish and created a design that exceeded our expectations. Her attention to not only design but also to function was welcome. Having the input of Michael, who oversees the construction aspect, during the design process was helpful as well, as he offered his own insights about what can work best in the field. Lauren’s expertise and guidance while choosing finishes was invaluable and with her help we were able to achieve the design feel we were looking for.

Michael’s attention to detail, ability to problem solve and integrity in doing things the right way were welcome once construction began and we encountered some unexpected issues. During the project our needs as homeowners were met and we were consulted throughout, and Lauren continued to be a presence to ensure the best execution of her design. We truly feel they made what can be an unpleasant experience tolerable. All of the workers were pleasant, which is important when people are in your home for an extended period of time.

I would recommend working with NMDB, they truly want what is best for the client and not easiest for them, they execute excellent work with integrity and communicate any issues that come along. The combination of Lauren’s and Michael’s expertise makes the often daunting process of home renovation more manageable.

After deciding to do a major remodel on our 14 year old home, we went searching for a local firm that could provide both design and build services. We met with several design and build firms, but after meeting with Lauren and Mike, selecting New Market Design Build was an easy decision - they just seemed to understand what we wanted and we could see from their portfolio that they had the skills to pull it off. They managed to convert a long wish-list into thoughtful and effective designs that solved countless space and usability problems that we had struggled with for years. Between the experienced lead carpenter and the use of a project web portal, day-to-day communication was great. Working with New Market Design Build to design and build our new kitchen was a wonderful experience. We were guided to New Market Design Build by some close friends who had used them to remodel their kitchen as well as other areas of their home. We got started by meeting with Lauren who is the interior designer. She is very creative with a fantastic aesthetic who listened to us, anticipated our needs and consequently was able to re-envision the existing space in ways that we never imagined resulting in our dream kitchen. Her plans opened up the kitchen and butler’s pantry giving us more work and storage space. Michael is the general contractor and master craftsman who pays attention to even the smallest of details. Unforeseen problems always arise when remodeling an older home but Michael approached these as opportunities to make the remodel better. He can solve any construction problem. Michael has a good group of carpenters as well as subcontractors who enjoy working with him while Lauren has her design staff, including Saime, who are knowledgeable and helpful. There are many decisions to make with a big remodel and we felt comfortable seeking Lauren and Michael’s advice. Indeed, their suggestions for light fixtures, light placement, electrical outlet placement and appliance positioning made for a more functional and beautiful kitchen. As this remodel occurred during the pandemic there were supply chain issues in particular with the cabinets, which delayed the completion of the job for a few months. During this frustrating time, Michael and Lauren stayed on top of the cabinetry issue, kept us informed of what was happening and even went to the extreme of offering to put in a temporary cabinet and sink as well as other amenities to make life without a kitchen more bearable. Not only did we appreciate their creativity and work-ethic, but also their understanding and kindness. Like our friends who referred us, we look forward to working with New Market Design Build on future home remodeling projects.
